Colombia has 19 public holidays in 2027, and 11 of them fall on a Monday — eleven long weekends. Ten are moved to Monday by the Emiliani Law (Law 51 of 1983, written precisely to boost domestic tourism); one, All Saints' Day, lands on a Monday naturally. Here's the full calendar and the best Atlántico plan for each break.

The dates that don't make a bridge (but are worth the trip)

Three holidays fall on a Saturday in 2027 (May 1, August 7 and Christmas), and two never move: Maundy Thursday (March 25) and Good Friday (March 26). Watch that week — with Monday March 22 also a holiday, only Tuesday the 23rd and Wednesday the 24th are working days, making it effectively a full week off. It's the best long window of the first half of the year.

And the biggest plan of the year: Carnaval

It isn't an official long weekend, but it rules the calendar: Carnaval de Barranquilla 2027 runs February 6–9 (Saturday to Tuesday), and on Carnival Monday and Tuesday the whole city stops. Book months ahead — here's the lodging guide.
