A riverside town on the banks of the Magdalena, Santo Tomás is known across Colombia for its Good Friday Vía Crucis Viviente, with penitents and flagellants — one of the country's most powerful expressions of faith. It also keeps a Carnaval declared Cultural Heritage and the traditional inter-town Batalla de Flores.
