About this event
The Pesebre en Vivo of Usiacurí is a celebration reenacting the day the Virgin Mary gave birth to the Christ Child, commemorating his birth through theater, dance, and music. This religious spectacle began in 1994, when the town of Usiacurí was inspired to enter a national nativity-scene competition. Around 95 people of all ages currently take part; costumes are designed and made by Tomás Urueta, a well-known local figure. The Pesebre en Vivo tours the main capitals of the Caribbean Region during the Christmas season.
